Yamaha SZ aims to deliver power without compromising on comfort, with a 153cc engine from the FZ range. Refuting claims that SZ would be equipped with the 125cc engine, like the Gladiator, Yamaha India decide to opt for the 150cc engine that made FZ such a household name. The engine of Yamaha SZ is expected to generate maximum power of 12 Bhp at 7500 rpm with maximum torque of 12.8 Nm at 4500 rpm.
Design And Comfort
Yamaha SZ sports a nice and beefy front fairing, graphics and colours that a man would love to show off, and sporty rear styling with a bold exhaust. Since there are no disc brakes, one can easily suppose that the Yamaha SZ is priced rather competitively. Other bikes that it aims to compete with for consumer base are some well known commuter's bikes, say the likes of Bajaj XCD 135, Hero Honda Hunk, Suzuki Zeus and Honda Unicorn.
Ride And Handling
For the most part Yamaha SZ features a rather conventional suspension set-up - telescopic forks at the front and coil springs at the rear. Though the springs are not adjustable, it does the job perfectly. The ride is largely pliant. Much like any good commuter's bike, its seat is comfortable and well bolstered. Lack of disc brakes could prove to be sort of an undoing for this bike; the bike is reported to skid on high speeds, which could pose a problem for the commuter.
